The latest set of customisations and integrations on the gallery are underway to allow the image EXIF data to be shown and switched on/off by clicking on a link. This should be the last of the customisations for the moment. I notice that the support team have removed the Forums link but I have asked them to restore it. |

They put it back very quickly! EXIF also works but not as I would like, you have to enable it for each new image visited. In a way this makes sense but ....... |

I only look at the EXIF if I am interested in a particular technical aspect of the image, in it's current form it's far too technical to read at a glance. In fact I need a calculator to work some of it out. It would be good if it were available as a readable synopsis perhaps optionally the ability to open the low level data for deeper analysis. Lightroom and probably most other image software provides a higher level display format which is far more readable. All that is NEEDED is: Camera Model. Lens foal length/max aperture. (In mm. & f Stops.) Shutter speed. (in lowest fractional format.) Exposing aperture. (In f stop format.) Exposure Focal length. (In mm.) ISO. Time & date of exposure. And possibly... Flash info. EV compensation. Metering method. AF mode. Exposure mode, (M, A, S, P, etc.) Phil mentioned an EXIF reader for his web browser, I suspect that was Firefox? I wonder if there is a plugin for Safari... Will check... |

One of my reasons for posting images in the gallery is so other users can see how various combinations of lens and body work in varied situations. Where I think it's helpful I usually put the shooting data in the sub title. So that means the EXIF isn't generally needed in my Gallery. |

Robert, Some of tthe presentation sof EXIF depend on the content and presentation in the manufacturer fields. This is variable and to make it more difficult this can be reinterpreted by software (LR, Photoshop, other image editing programs) and then when JPGs are output they are set in the format that the program decides. So in essence what you see is what is there. It cant be that the PPP should reprocess and represent the data as some people would see it as wrong, no matter what format you presented it. |
