Thanks to all that have helped me over the years with questions and gear issues. I had to take a long look in the mirror and come to grips with the fact I have way too much gear, that I can't use to the fullest extent, and I'm not ever going to get published. It's a tough pill to swallow that I won't ever be able to cover sporting events and races and get a photo in print which I have chased for 10 years now. I'm going to step into some form of mirrorless so I can still take photos while I travel but I don't need 4 bags and $3000 worth of gear to make it happen. So once my gear is gone I'll slip away from the forum for good . Thank you everyone from all around the globe. I wish you all prosperity and good health Rick Dembroski Alaska

Sorry to hear of your disappointment. I have a mirrorless setup (Fuji) but the AF is not good enough for fast action but the IQ is every bit as good as my D3.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment but understand your reason for selling your heavy gear. For differnt reasons ( retirement) I too am selling off a lot of my Nikon gear. Like Jonathan I have a Fuji X system and it's very high quality. But there's something about a DSLR SIZE body. I have bought a D750 my wife bought a Panasonic Fz1000EB bridge camera. With 20mp it's unquestionable a high quality still and video camera and the 24-400mm fixed Leica lens is superb. The whole camera and lens weighs lens than a consumer DSLR... so ideal for travelling. Good luck

With mirrorless sales up and DSLRs down again it would seem possible that Nikon will introduce a full frame model with lots of bells and whistles. http://www.dpreview.com/articles/6223902518/sony-rides-wave-of-us-mirrorless-sales-surge Hopefully we won't have to wait quite as long for one as those in line for a D400.

The Nikon D5 is in the pipeline.

The Panasonic LUMIX digital viewfinder is quite superb. Realistic colour fine detail without interference...streets ahead of the Fuji.

Like others I have gone almost all mirror less with the Fuji x system and loving being able to carry a light camera bag.

Well I know TomOC is there but if you are using the Fuji mirrorless cameras and lenses then this forum below is the place to be. http://www.fujix-forum.com/index.php/index This is the largest Fuji forum and very active.

+ 1 on that. Much the same vibe in helping as in this forum (unlike many others) and one big difference is the preference for posting inline photos (among the best I've seen) rather than gallery (both available but many many embedded photos). tom

So now I have to keep the dreaded D7000 These women seem to have a knack for knowing the best course of action. Sometimes you just have to step back from trying too hard to capture prize winning images and reconnect with the fun of taking pictures. You can do that with a compact camera just as well as a DSLR. The main thing is to enjoy Scotland!
