Just been watching the Winter Olympics.

That Luge thing is insane.

140km/hr, laying on a tea tray, dangling feet first in an icy culvert.

Why don't they let spectators take 'pot shots' at them and make it a tiny bit more dangerous.

8-)

It is great fun Eric. If I was ever to take up a winter sport then luge would be the most likely. It is pure adrenalin!

Yeah...I know the colour of that adrenaline.

I don't mind speed...or risky sports (done both in my time)

It's the limb vulnerability and impossible visibility.
I wouldn't be able to see where I was going with my waist line.

Just been watching the Luge Doubles.

What the hell is that all about?

Some lightweight guy lies on a tray....then a fat guy lies on top of him.

What on earth do these light guys get out of it?

They can't see s*d all for the fat guy sat on their stomach.

Why doesn't the fat guy just have a sack of potatoes to lay on?

Still think the Skeleton is better. At least you can better see where you are going.

o.O

There is a small trickle of blood coming from each corner of my mouth; from biting my tongue.

Lovely outfits!

PS not sure the knee garter does much for the sartorial elegance.

I like the type of bobsleigh/luge where you are face down and looking forward (skeleton).
I think the lying on your back and feet first way is not right (for me).
This is about the only winter sports I would do. Going downhill with planks on the bottom of your feet is too close to insanity.

The double luge looks like someone is trying to get the Soviet authorities involved!!  No further comment needed.

BTW: Skiing people wont agree with these statistics but more people are killed each year skiing (per 1000 participants), usually by skiing off piste, than any other sport that has a large following including scuba diving, motor racing, hang gliding, parachuting, etc, etc.

Not surprising if the go off 'piste' to start with.
