I have just got a D80 IR converted and it has been reset to 0001.  I know that it had taken 2234 images before conversion.

I normally have all my cameras set so that the NEF number equates to the total number of shots the camera has made or a  factor of that that I can easily work out.

So for instance if a camera allows 9999 images in a folder then I know that every folder change the image number back to 0001 and is restarted in a new folder.
So if my D80 had take 73850 images then the current image number will be 3850 and it will been restarted in the seventh folder so my logical image number in the image catalog will be D80IR-7-3850.NEF
All my images are numbered [Camera Model]-[Logical folder number]-[image number].[filetype]

The normal way to force a camera to start numbering for a particular number is to use the CSM menu and set the Image Numbering to be Continuous then put an image in that folder with the high number you want.  So if I want 3850 as my next image then I put an image named DSC_3849.NEF into the current default folder and the next image taken will be DSC_3850.NEF.

Easy eh!!

Well it works on most Nikons that I have had but it doesnt seem to work on the D80.
And Yes i have RTFM!!

Any D80 owners out there who can test this for me, or tell me a method that works.
Thanks
