Nikon advised me today. Also I saw firmware for D800E is available.

D800_0101.bin file I downloaded it but at present seem unable to upgrade firmware from copied file on CF formatted card. Followed on line instructions and have done many firmware up grades in past with no problem.

New firware is to repair possible playback faults. Also issues with WT4 sending JPG fault. Also resolves issue with shadow showing on 5:4 images when Active D-Lighting is turned on.

As none of these issues bother me at moment I will have another try at installing the firmware in the morning, perhaps my virus software is giving me a hard time, even when I told it Nikon is trusted site?

My camera shows present firmware is:

A 1.00 B 1.00 L 1.004

Graham

I just tried it. It seems to work for me. Card formatted in camera. I used the CF card ..... I can't say if it works with the SD.

I still cannot do mine - I'd better have a go in the morning when the temperature is lower - otherwise I too might need some guidance - I've done this in the past with little or no problem - it probably is the weather!?

Also I'm clearly having a problem installing my avatar in focus!

Updated.
Used the SD card no problems.

Ken,
Make sure you put the firmware bin file in the root directory of your card.
Only the B file is updated.

Yes the root file was the error I made. The file was in a folder so camera did not see it. Hence do not do things late at night when you only have half a brain cell!

At this rate perhaps we need to consider re-naming this the Nikon D800 Forum!

It's good to see a new model generate such interest, can't remember this here since the D3 came out.

Yes indeed Rich, I wasn't knocking it. It's a far cry from the D1 though!
