The following has been reported on NikonRumors. http://nikonrumors.com/2012/10/23/nikon-d600-sensors-dust-spots-caused-by-a-gap-around-the-shutter.aspx/ Seems like a slip up in the design if this is true. Peter have you seen this on your new one ?

Yes a number of dust spots show up at the upper left portion at f/16 but the extent is more or less the same as the D3 when it was new. Not sure if the gap is a design flaw, or a feature intended to make sensor cleaning easier.
