By chance I came upon this... http://www.warplane.com/lancaster-2014-uk-tour.aspx The two remaining flying Lancasters are making a fly-past down Windermere on Sunday the 7th September, in the afternoon I understand from the above schedule, then Morecambe then back to a Lincolnshire base, East Kirkby where a third Lancaster will taxi with the two flying Lancasters in the background, then back to Conningsby. There will be several sites along the flight path on their return from Scotland where a good photo opportunity may be possible, weather permitting of course. |

Found this pic of the Lancaster from Aug 2003 at the Waterloo International Airport. They had just completed a repair for an oil leak and it was rolled out for testing. The shot was taken with a D1 at 57mm eq and 1/640. Attachment: Lancaster bomer Waterloo airport.JPG (Downloaded 54 times) |

The two flew low over my fathers house in West Yorkshire this afternoon. At 91years, his hearing needs a hearing aid, but he immediately picked up on the engine tone as it passed. "we used to hear them passing over our prison of war camp on the way to bomb Dresden" he said Sort of displays it in a different light. |

My early reading was almost exclusively related to the wartime bomber command books. 'Cheshire VC.', 'Enemy Coast Ahead', by Guy Gibson, and many others. So I find these aircraft fascinating. Unfortunately I didn't get to see them on this occasion, a case of spreading myself too thin and not being able to be in multiple places at the same time... |

The unmistakable engine tone as it goes overhead still raises the hair on the back of the neck. |

Hi There IT is great to see that those great birds are still flying. Every time I go to a fly day I can hear the vets say what the plane is even before you can see it My father in law flew with the eighth air force on B24s, he was based in England I just received his personal log book and have started reading it, but the print is so small I am going to wait till I get my new glasses later in the month. I see that the Canadian Air Force Museum has completed restoration of It's Handley Page Halifax Mk VII one of only three remaining out of over 6000. It is great to see that this important part of history is being maintained Now off to watch that video Ed |

Can't find the video I was looking for. Hold onto your chair, the camera wobbles a lot! LOL |
