See if the file is on the card using your file manager - it isn't very big.

If it is there then was the card formatted in the camera or in the card reader? I think the card needs to be formatted in the camera for the camera to be able to read it.

The firmware update name_of_file.bin needs to be extracted by running the firmware.dmg file that you downloaded.
Copy the *.bin file to the root of the CF card.
Put CF card in camera.
Make sure battery is fully charged!
Switch on camera.
Menu and select Firmware version.
It will show current camera firmware versions (note multiple files for firmware) and offer to update firmware on camera or lens.
Say Yes/OK to update camera.
Then OK again and leave camera to update.
Switch off when it say completed or screen has gone black after about 3-5mins?
Switch on and check Firmware version shown as current.

Failing that you can come see me in Cornwall.
