I just read this news article on DPReview.

Seems like we are due to lose the famous Nikon worldwide warranty.
It was always a bone of contention as Nikon USA always maintained that you needed to purchase in USA to be able to use the warranty there.  However they did apparently allow UK users to have warranty repairs.  I have only heard this reported as I have always purchased my kit in UK except my D1X which I got in USA.
