Wow

Maybe many of you know this. I'm reading on my iPad in Starbucks and came across the instructions for high speed sync for Nikon dales and flash. How to use flash archery high shutter speeds

It's called focal lane sync and it seems there is a setting on the speed
light and in the camera menu - FP FLASH

It lowers the power but extends the time of the actual flash so it is great for outdoor portraits

Can't wait to get homeland try it!!!!

Tom,
re: many of you
I do not know how many, but those who have read and understood the camera and flash manuals must know.
Regards, Gilbert
PS: for the rest: using (auto-)FP flash greatly reduces flash-range, especially on fast shutter speeds, try it somedays with 1/16000 on a D1 series camers.

I havent used the FP setting on my flashes but I have it set in the camera menus so I can use it.
I read a good article on it some ti e ago.
Nikon also released a good brochure and how to use the Nikon CLS flash as a PDF. This coves the use of FP settings.

It works great for a portrait shot.

Seems to have a range of only about 10-12 feet with an SB800 in bright sunlight.

Still...what a neat feature! And so buried in the manual...
