as most will know I have had to change to olympus MFT due to gear weight and health issues . so last week I sold all my nikon gear and bought a olympus omd1-mkii as I already own a pano/leica 100-400 lens .. the cameras have recently had a major firmware update which brings them into line with the olympus e.mix camera .. after reading a few reviews and viewing pics I bit the bullet on Saturday .here are a few photos from sun/mon still getting to grips with the camera the menu system is complicated and alien to say the least as someone else commented , they give you the bone but dont tell you how to chew it .here goes anyway so far I'm pleased as punch I've turned the burst speed down to 10fps but it can do 18fps

Very good Jeff, very punchy. What format is the camera, DX or FX? ...Or something else?

neither Robert its micro four thirds so smaller than a APSC sensor but you do get a 2X crop factor . remember jans camera I showed you its a upgrade of that ,just nicked my lens back till I can afford new . the 100-400 lens becomes a hand holdable 200-800 with i.s I also get a free 30mm (60mm) macro lens and the camera comes with a staggering 5 years six months warranty I know at least one other forum member is interested in this system ...and I was very surprised on Sunday to two canon die hard photographers that had also switched systems . 18 fps in constant a.f or 60fps in one shot .. first time out Sunday and 1407 shots taken

OK, the X2 crop factor tells the story, thanks. That helps explain the lighter body. Having handled a tiny Sony which was FX, literally not much more than a sensor holder really, way smaller and lighter than the big D's. Pairing a small sensor with a larger lens is bound to pull the image in. I was slightly interested in the Sony because it's capable of using the Nikon FX lenses with a simple adaptor. In the end I didn't bother. For video I love my little Go-Pro Session cube, as Graham will confirm, it's a magic little tool, good things can come in small packages.

the all up weight of the new rig camera /lens/strap is 1.75kg which makes it a delight to handle

Did you change the saturation on these or is that the way they came out. The reason I ask is a friend has the Olympus and his come out a bit over saturated for me so was wondering if its the camera or a setting.

still learning my way round the settings Ian , these were with keep warm in w/b switched on since turned it off . generally I like my pics a bit over cooked anyway but its a massive learning curve with this one . getting there though

Be interesting to see how it goes. Everyone has there own way they like there pics saturated no problem with that, it just that all the images I've seen from Olympus camera seem to be too saturated for me. Once you get used to the settings etc. I'd be interested to see if the saturation can be turned back a bit.

the sea gull shot is one I took on Monday last week 2 days after getting the new camera , featured today on a half page spread in the north Wales daily post ,the others are from Sunday getting to like this combo the more I use it ,all photos hand held to
