A single track road (with passing places) in the Gloucester hills.
It was a dull overcast day and the deciduous trees were starting to loose their leaves...ie they were dying off.

What surprised me was how the IR response has also dropped off. The (browny yellow) leaves now have as little IR response as the surrounding conifers. Compare this to the response of the still growing green grass verges.  of course a bit of sunlight would have lifted the whole scene but the contrast between the green grass and autumn foliage would even then have rendered the same stark contrast.  Interesting result ....maybe I should now put the IR camera to bed for the winter?

Accidentally discovered a slick way to get rid of the central hotspot that often plagues internally converted IR cameras with many lenses.

The hotspot is an internal bounce back reflection of the incoming light, off the face of the IR filter, that has been inserted in place of the low pass filter.

The hotspot is inherently a blue fogging. In Photoshop select the Convert to BW option and slide the Blue channel to darken the blue colours present until they fade (contrast increases) and match the contrast of the rest of the image …..as the rest of the image contains shades of red/brown the effect focuses exclusively on the hotspot.

I was contacted by an old friend today….havent spoken for 7 years.

In the ensuing communications, the subject turned to our mutual association with photography. I dug out a photo we did together back in 2007 (D1X I suspect) for a club competition ….cant recall the title of the competition or who entered it or if it won anything. But it brought back a few memories…

That is what images are best at - triggering those memories buried deep in the "archive" :-)

I have 25+ years of b&w negatives that I keep promising myself that I will scan.  I have all the kit to do it just not the inclination even though I have some images that I know must be there that deserve to be seen.

The only way to eat an elephant is in small bites - if the task seems daunting then just do a few at a time - schedule it in to do it when you know you have a few minutes to spare.

I have so many fairly big jobs on the to do list that I set a 2 hour a day limit on what I do and decide the day before what I will do today - that way some progress is made even though I might wake up and think I can't be bothered, or I start doing something else - like reading this forum, should be varnishing the new window frame ... oops

I think your approach is good Chris.
