Nikon introduce a new lens type AF-P which improves on the AF speed, noise and weight of the lens.
First lens is a 18-55mm, it might be expected that will roll out to all new and improved lenses.

Thanks Jk, it's DX though...

Perhaps of more interest (to me!) is this dinky little very pocketable portable storage device for that longer expedition with these escalating image file sizes it would keep many people in storage for a few days.

If only it had an integral SD card reader and battery and screen...I could back up all my files to it in the field. Will just have to keep using the laptop.

o.O

An app for the iPad?

My laptop only has a small HD and I can't store many images on it, it would be pretty handy for me.

What's really needed is the ability to plug this or a similar device directly into the camera to offload the image files.

You need one of these.
Western Digital Passport My Passport Wireless.

I have a 1TB version.
It works great for iPad and downloading images from camera.

I looked at getting one of those and wondered how well they worked. Very useful to know you are using one successfully.

At the moment I just take shed loads of cards away with me, after all, they aren't very expensive anymore and I like not having everything in one place - just in case

I hesitated after reading some reviews. They claim it's VERY slow to use.

Not found it any slower than any other wifi connections. Of course some people in CA, who are forever connected, will think that a connection other than 1GB/sec is slow. Sad people.
