Hi all,

I have a remote shutter release for my D 7000 like dis . . .

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/IR-Wireless-Remote-Control-for-Nikon-D60-D80-D90-D3000-D5000-D5100-D7000-etc-/181538560279?pt=AU_Cameras_Photographic_Accessories&hash=item2a448a9917

. . . and I'd like to get one for Wendy's D 90.

However - there's always a however; I can't get my one to release the shutter on the D 90.

I've pressed every button on the Blessed thing, but no joy.

Do I have to go into the Menu and set something up?

Cheers
Max

Max,
I own neither.
The easy answer is in the D90 manual, something like "use only Nikon ...".
The other one is: contact the dealer where you bought the remote, if he/she stated compatibility with the D90, they are responsible to make it work.
One other item in the D90 manual: selecting the right remote mode, page 68 or thereabout.

Max,
A PDF manual for the D90 is available from many Nikon sites, in many languages.

Guys.

A forum is about discussion and chatting about cameras - not posting links.

I know I'm a rank amateur, but I thought it might be a discussion I could start.

Obviously, I was wrong.

 I'm out of here.

Eh? o.O

Max, if you are still there, or anybody else interested; this forum is about helping one another, in whatever way is possible, including posting links to information another member needs.

Max opened this thread with a link, so what's the problem???

If I have caused offence with my light hearted quip about upside down manuals I am very sorry, NO offence was intended.

Max, I have a D70, D80, D90 and all use the same IR remote.

The worse thing is that the IR function needs to be set in the camera every 10 mins as the IR function switches off after a predetermined period, set in CSM menu. This is really annoying.
If you want remote that works over a long period then a wired remote works 'better'.

Don't know if this would help but digiCamControl 1.2.0 is free and works well on most Nikon models.
