Does anyone here know anything about these cards for D3200 ? It would be nice to set up on a tripod and use a smartphone control shutter or backup data in general http://www.amazon.ca/Eye-Fi-Frustration-Packaging-Wireless-MOBI-32-FF/dp/B00FG8PPXI/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_1_0 41MoJgypmRL__SL500_AA300_ Attachment: Wi fi sd.jpg (Downloaded 46 times) |

I have the earlier mdel. 8GB 4X It transfers JPG files OK but it was too slow to allow transfer of RAW files at a reasonable rate. If you want remote triggering of your camera then Nikon do a unit that plugs into the remote socket that allows anipod/ipad app to control the camera. |

I called on an old friend yesterday. He uses these cards, mainly to avoid having to do the transfer manually, when he gets home. He just switches the camera on when he gets home and does something else while the files upload to his PC automatically. We shot a small movie clip and it transferred that ok....not particularly slow, but obviously slower than jpegs. I suppose it takes away the risk of damaging the card when using a reader....or wiring your camera to the PC. |

I bought one of the Toshiba ones...never used it after trying it once. Thought it was too slow and since you can't use the camera when it is transferring, I felt I was better off carrying an extra card and doing what I always do |

But my friend isn't a big shooter and leaves downloading his single card till he gets home...and has a cuppa while it's doing it. |

Thanks to all for the replies. I think I'm going to stick with the basics. Now we are stuck in a Polar Vortex ( new word for me, think cold snap ) and I don't venture outside much. I'm concerned about how the cold affects the camera and don't want to damage it. I haul drainge tile to locations all over southern Ontario so there's not much to do now. Often on my travels I see horse drawn farm equipment ( Mennonites). I'm looking forward to using the zoom lens as these people are averse to having their picture taken. I'll have see where it goes. Right now Cabin Fever is about to set in. The last load I delivered resulted in frostbitten fingers as it was minus 24c. Stay safe all. Attachment: 03JA14-Cold 1.jpg (Downloaded 21 times) |

OMG that is -5F (-25C). The camera wont be damaged by these temperatures but the batteries are soon discharged as they dont like such low temperatures. Stay warm. |

I am stuck up a 30foot pine tree waving an extending pruning saw ( saw on a 10foot aluminium pole) in the air, when an almighty flash of lightning lit up the sky. A gibbon wouldn't have got out of that tree any quicker. It thundered and flashed and poured down for about 30mins. I will go back out tomorrow to retrieve the saw and aluminium ladder. I was reminded of comedian Les Dawson's line..."my father was on the Somme when the first shell landed. He was under his bed in Crewe when the second one landed". |
