For anyone interested in RAW processing other than via Adobe products I can recommend Corel AfterShot Pro (used to be Bibble). I can also offer help with trouble shooting its use. |

Corel AfterShot Pro site How does the new release differ from Bibble5? What new features does it bring to the user? Presumably it is intended to take on Lightroom and Aperture and maybe iPhoto. How does it fare by comparison? |

The currently released version of AfterShot Pro (ASP) is version 1.0.0.39 This is directly equivalent to Bibble 5.3.2 but has a different colour processing engine and uses the new ASP SDK so you need to get the updated plugins for ASP. The new ASP colour is better IMHO. The plugins for ASP have been reworked and I have tested all the available ones and they work faster or better. We also have some brand new plugins. So move to ASP is the answer as Bibble5 will not be enhanced as it is now a legacy product. I am a beta tester and can tell you nothing as I am under NDA. I can say that the new version that is close to release is much enhanced and has loads of new camera RAW file support. |

I am less than impressed with the transition from Bibble to Aftershot. The support is virtually non-existent .. there is a FAQ site but no user forum that I have been able to find. At least you (usually) got answers on the Bibble forum. I also am concerned that there appears to be no maintenance at all (Jk may be able to correct me on this if his NDA allows) - Nikon have new models out that are not supported. I am also irritated that a negative (but polite and constructive) review that I sent through the site feedback has never appeared on the website. Basically, Photoshop essentials is a much better option if you are looking in this price range and allows upward compatibility to Photoshop and Lightrrom Ed |
