I have a G-Tech RAID Safe system on which I keep my master images. A few days ago, I was going to work on some photos and turned on the drive. It powered up and loaded on my screen. I decided to do some other tasks before the photo business and during the session, the area suffered some sort of very brief power shutdown. I turned on my system and got a message that the RAID was not recognized by the computer. Shut all down and unplugged all devices. Plugged all back in and powered back on. Still no drive. A brief but violent out burst of obscenities from me. Too late to call tech support and a Friday to boot. Spent hours on line looking for help. Finally found an exchange of info from a G-Tech tech (no pun intended) and someone with same issue as mine. Solution, remove both hard drives and put the bottom one in top slot and turn on device. Bingo, computer recognized drive. Installed lower unit and copied unit 1 to unit 2 for duplicate. Thought I would share this with anyone using a RAID 1 for future use. Monday called G-Tech to see if any additional info I needed. Told that what I did was correct. I could have also used my third drive which was in my Bank safe deposit box when it opened on Monday in slot 1. |
