Adobe are increasing their monthly charge for Photoshop by 50%…presumably to fund the AI inclusion.

I think it’s time for me to explore some of the alternatives used by other members.

I have Affinity Photo, which had limitations in raw handling of Sony A1 files but as I am using a Fuji more now, it may be ok for Fuji raw conversion ( yet to explore).

Would members please list their recommendations I should also be trying?

Thx

For raw processing I use Raw Therapee - https://www.rawtherapee.com/

What happens if you edit them?

Have you tried the updates, I would have expected that Serif Affinity Photo would handle Sony A1 raw files by now.  I have Affinity Photo version 2.6.5.1 update.  Never tested with Sony A1 as I use Photoshop, my PS Actions saved over the years are too precious to lose.

Yes, Affinity Photo v2 supports Sony A1 raw files, with the necessary support added in a version 2.4 update. You can open and process these files directly within Affinity Photo's Develop Persona.

It was available on the desktop version but not the iPad version I was using. I did get the windows version for my laptop but the old laptop was too pedestrian. I decided to get Affinity for the MacBook and couldn’t!!

Their support people told me v2 had been withdrawn “pending exciting new developments”. ( methinks an AI version? )

Anyway as a kind gesture they have sent me a free link to download the V2 version for Mac and I will be doing that over the weekend. It will be interesting to see what their new development is going to be. If it does do SOME of what Photoshop can do regarding creative fill…. it will be interesting.

I have a copy of the V2 software (Photo, Designer, Publisher) as I took the V2 upgrade offer but having been a long time user of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign I find it difficult to use as the interface is different enough to confuse me!

I suggest you do download ASAP as there is due to be a CANVA (new owners) announcement today/tomorrow that may change T&Cs, so your link wont necessarily work.
