I really do think that Nikon have lost the plot!.

When Canon had FX and DX cameras that were selling like hotcakes Nikon stubbornly refused for two years to provide professionals with what they wanted/needed which was a FX camera instead they just released DX format cameras.  Then finally they released the D3 which was a game changer and sold well and is a great workhorse.

Now they refuse to provide a professional quality DX camera replacement for the D300/D300S that creak on at 7 years old.

Instead today I hear on the rumour mill they will release yet another 24MP FX camera.

I know that in the professional range they want to sell the new 600 and 800mm AFS VR lenses but they will not get many sales of these compared with a D400 24MP DX body.

In the DX camera range if you want 24MP then you are limited to D3300, D5300, and the D7100.  None of these are professional build cameras.  Well the D7100 may be close but it uses the USB-like connector socket for accessories like GPS so for those of us with many accessories that use the 10pin connector it means a repurchase of kit as there is no USB to 10pin adapter.
Maybe I need to make one!!  Another project for this winter.

So I give up with Nikon and their ability to support those users who want a DX format camera and a FX camera.
Maybe I just need to buy the D7100 or even the D5300.
There were rumours of a D7200 which is a D7100 with a swivel TFT screen like the D5300 but I think this was wishful thinking.

o.O
