Today Adobe released the upgrade to Lightroom 6 and Photoshop CC.
http://www.dpreview.com/news/1486125622/adobe-lightroom-cc-2015-6-lightroom-6-6-and-camera-raw-9-6-now-available

This new version of Lightroom v6.6 and ACR 9.6 for Photoshop CC adds additional lens profiles as well as some new cameras such as Nikon B700 (high end compact).

LR6.5 supported the new Nikon D5 and D500.

As a reminder to those of us who dont subscribe to the Adobe subscription model there are No Further Updates to ACR for Photoshop CS6.

Thanks JK, I don't quite understand why Adobe are still using 2015 as a designation for 2016 software updates?

Would be more helpful and make more sense if they used the actual year of the update release. But then what would I know, I only use the it...

I havent a clue but have to say that I think that Adobe are playing a game with users.
I think that Lightroom perpetual licenses should get these CC updates e.g. Auto-Keystoning feature as it is the same code in the distribution.
They are certainly not winning friends.

It must be a difficult transition period when some customers are on one older form of licence and Adobe are trying to standardise onto another, in this case a continuous revenue stream, of rental.

As it happens rental licence suits me well but I can understand those who have invested considerable sums in a perpetual licence would be concerned.

'Perpetual' licence versions were never upgradable without another fee/fresh licence at major updates. So in a way nothing has changed. The question which remains is, has there been a major update? That is more difficult to answer now since the continuous dribble of minor updates, I doubt we will ever see a 'major' update again. There will be a steady stream of refinements and additions as they come available. Hence my question in my previous post CC2015... Why not CC2016?

I have a perpetual licence for the entire Adobe Creative Suit CS5 but it hasn't updated for a long time, the existing features obviously still work well but of particular concern to me there have been many excellent and much needed (for me) features added to InDesign which I need for the publication of the book which I can't upgrade InDesign CS5 to. Online self publishing was in it's infancy back in CS5 days. Single elements of the Creative Suit CC are quite expensive, so I am stuck between two stools myself. That is why I feel the Photography Suit CC is such good value, I don't really notice £8 a month, I would notice another £18 on top of that for InDesign CC.

At some stage the 'perpetual' licences will grind to an end, probably when an incompatibility with a new OS creeps in. Apple are renowned for it. Perhaps OS 10.12, or 10.13? If you still need to use the software it means keeping a computer with an older OS just for that. Like I have to with MacProject.

I have an Design Studio CS6 perpetual license plus additional Photoshop CS4 and a package Premiere and Photoshop Elements 12 license. I am a PS user since 1994/5 (v5.5) and have upgraded through PS6, 7, 7.1, CS1-4, etc.
I think I have fed Adobe enough money!

I know that all the additional features that are available in the CC version of Lightroom are present in my perpetual license code as they use the same distribution DMG so it is just that the CC subscription license actives the new feature while the perpetual doesnt.

With shoddy practice such as this I think that it encourages piracy.
So really Adobe deserve all they get from the ability for new users to download cracked pirate copies. I could also do this but I appreciate that should I raise a bug report I want it to be from my legitimate copy.

I've been using Photoshop since before it was called 'photoshop' and have only upgraded when the programme's interaction with other packages caused problems. (Eg Windows versions or camera raw compatibility)

Although I believe I am pretty conversant with most of Photoshops functions after 20+years using it, I rarely use more than a few basic functions. These functions are now available in several alternative editing packages.. so my allegiance to Adobe is wearing thin.

In fact, I wish I could have an editing package that had far less gimmicks, method duplications and options that bloat the package and inevitably slow it down to some degree. I realise that it has to be all things to all men to catch sales, but I find it frustrating, buying ( however that's done) surplus to requirement clutter.
