just spotted a D3s on e.bay going through at a silly price , i.e sub £400 and bought it high shutter count ,but I'll take my chances ... any one got any spare c/f cards lying about I got rid of mine when I sold the canon gear .. will update on arrival mid /end of week

Congratulations the D3S is a solid camera. I still have mine. I would want a £800 for it as it is less than 10000 actuations.

This is my first ever venture into full frame , if it does what I want then other changes may follow .. I love the images I get from the 7200 but there's something missing I can't put my finger on it ,but its like a itch that won't go away .. we shall see

Cant see much missing from your D7200 images.
The D3S has extras that the D3 hasnt got. The sensor self clean is very useful.
The 12MP is very forgiving as long as you use ISO less than 3200/6400 and dont crop too aggressively.

Yep I realise that Jonathon , I will lose a lot of reach and a fair bit of croppabilty ,but hopefully gain in autofocus , both cameras have sensor self clean btw

Yes the AF is very good and I dont think is bettered until you get to D5/D850/Z7/D500 which are using the latest and greatest AF module.

well it arrived this morning , the camera exterior condition doesn't look look like a high shutter count model i.e no paint rubbing ,no chips ,no scratches etc hard to distinguish from a new camera in fact the , fully boxed with charger 2 original batteries, manuals and and lots of ancillary bits and bobs , .thats the pros . now the cons high shutter count 350,000 ?? that doesn't go with condition though .. very dusty previous owner stated it had been a back up for 3 to 4 years , , a very dusty eyepiece which I have since dismantled and cleaned its now sparkling .. and the last hurdle the sensor itself was extremely grubby . I have done a partial wet clean on the sensor I only had two swabs though and they were APS-H sized. anyway its removed I would say around 90% of the crap but now need to buy some more to finish it properly . so for £390 is it a keeper or do I return it .
lovely to use and focus to die for managed a couple of pics in the rain today so I can see the potential .. ?????

I would keep at that price.
Only better item for that price would be a D3X.
What are the two birds in the top image. Rooks, crows,?.... I think they are rooks but dont know. I have many of these around me in Cornwall.

They are jackdaws jk , the other one is a female blackbird , ..UPDATE ...the seller has refunded me the cost of a wet cleaning kit which I have now purchased .. also sent off for a estimate for a replacement shutter ..just to be on the safe side

Replacement shutter will be expensive. Make sure you are sitting down when you read the estimate.

What I can't get my head around is the body is totally unmarked ,I have seen other high shutter count cameras that have virtually no black paint left ,as I said before this one is totally unmarked not even a scratch ,I.e showroom condition the exterior doesn't match the interior , unless it's been used tethered on a tripod .. ?? I still have the D7200 as well more mp more reach (allegedly ) .

Congratulations on getting your 'new' camera.
I was offered a similar deal on a D3s last year, not quite so high shutter count but nearly. The price was much higher than yours, else I might have been more tempted. It had been a studio camera from a London studio. The camera never leaves it's tripod from the start to the end of it's life. Body was immaculate, I have seen several of these immaculate high shutter count cameras, the last being a D800 with about 280,000 clicks.
I have some 'spare' 4 Gb cards but use them as backup and for the smaller D200 IR and wide spectrum bodies. Get a couple of 32Gb CF's, they are getting cheaper now.

Some professionals/people cover the camera in gaffer tape which protects the paint, etc. Then when they come to trade in, they strip the tape and the camera looks pristine!

Got one 32gb in it rob , and a 64 in mine and jans other bodies just over a week till bempton so we should be well covered for that .

Little different from what I was quoted for a D4 shutter and I too will wait until a repair is necessary.

OK, I can see the advantage of getting a quote by phone but my D4 also needs the sub-selector modification if I get a new shutter and parts for that are on the basis of a fault (according to Nikon) so it may be a case of Nikon repair or no repair.
Fixation also provide estimates by phone and they are near the Elephant and Castle. The figure I was given was from Fixation so there is probably nothing in it.
