I have been following this in the rumour mill.
Yes the Z50 is released.

Looking at the specifications here.
https://www.dpreview.com/news/1089262758/nikon-introduces-the-z50-a-dx-format-mirrorless-camera-for-z-mount

There is no IBIS in the Z50.  This is a real loss so I would probably advise anyone not to adopt this DX version right now, unless it really does tick all your needs. But it is a very good low cost little camera.  There will be a more expensive Z?? that is DX coming with IBIS.

On a positive side it is a direct equivalent in MP and many other features to the D500 but is almost half the price.

I notice that there is a viewfinder located flash.
This makes the camera viewfinder bump larger which may be a real plus point!

Thanks Robert.
The Z50 is noticeably smaller than Z6/7.

I am thinking a Z50 looks an attractive option to replace a 1J5 but I need to get hands on with one before deciding. Certainly it would eliminate many of the failings of the 1 series.

I am not impressed with what I have been reading about the Z50 Nikon have made too many errors there is no way I would buy one. See this very good U-Tube film:

For once I am in agreement with Tony Northrup.

I think the Z50 should have been a F mount camera in fact it should have been a D500-like camera with an electronic viewfinder and no mirror box.

Yes, but does this mean that Nikon is going all Z...?

Will the D6 be the last  F-mount ...?

I think that the answer to this question is Yes!

Personally I think that it is not a step that I would have taken.
The F mount is iconic.  We do not need exotic f1.0 or f0.8 lenses, we need excellent f2.0 lenses.  The F mount was capable of delivering this.

Results from my F mount lenses are not compromised by using them on Z series camera and likewise the camera seems to perform very well with top quality F lenses used with the FTZ adapter.

My question is really who identified the need for the Z mount and what was their rationale?  Maybe this should be a new thread!
