I found a local pro who has a D3 that has 30,000 clicks on it and it looks super super clean but he wants $2599 for it ... What do you guys think ?

There are 4 on UK eBay for £1,600 to £1,800 ($2,500 to $2800).

Check out your local eBay for a guide price? I was offered a very beaten up one with a faulty sensor for £1,000 ($1,550) as a trade purchase, I declined the kind offer... I think it had been dropped, although I couldn't see any distinct impact marks.

They will come down when word gets out how good the D800 is and the D4 is abundant. I will bide my time...

My D200 is working fine. If I can see the eye of a tiny sand eel at 100 feet when it's flying at 30mph in the mouth of a Tern I think that is definition enough.

Price seems a little high but you might be able to get it if you offer $2500 ;-)
Always worth asking.

The D3 is really a very very good camera. I am so glad I have had one from day1 of it's release.
Mind you my D800 is growing on me.

I know a nice guy who is selling a D700 with fewer than 4,000 clicks and for less $$$. ;-)

Same sensor as a D3.
