Hi everyone, how's it going?

Thought I'd post that I've recorded a (p)review of the 70-200 2.8 S that I had delivered at launch on YouTube.

Coming from the VR I version I've really been enjoying using it, interesting to see how much sharper it is than that older version and just generally impressed.

Initially, and it comes across in the video, I wasn't too won-over by the OLED screen on the lens, but since spending more time with the TC-14 Z on it, it's interesting how it's able to update the information on the display - such as multiplied focal length etc.

Just thought I'd share in-case it's of interest.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Also, has anyone else got their hands on one or is planning to get one?

Chris

Thanks Graham, realise it's a bit left field sharing that kind of thing but thought it might be an interesting one!

Good pre-review Chris.
Have you done any comparison of the relative sharpness of the 70-200 AFS VRi v S series version. Also have you tested the old lens with the FTZ and compared the focus speed.

I've been doing some yes, I think I'll do a separate video comparing them, but initially it seems the S version has significant improvements in sharpness across the board.

With the FTZ focus speed has seemed fine, but you can tell how much better the VR is synced on the S version over the older VR I - much smoother and more keepers at lower shutter speeds.

Chris, Have you spoken to anyone at Nikon or heard if there are any rumours of a FTZ mkii with a screwdriver AF interface.

I'm afraid not, I keep on hearing rumours of it, but, to be honest, I think they've gone down the route of not doing it (personal opinion). Nothing substantial, test results or mock ups has ever been published, and would Nikon create on 3-4 years after introducing the Z mount?

My guess might be that it'd use too much power and hurt the usage which is why they maybe didn't end up doing it (when they should have)

Looks like I need to wait for some nice Chinese person to make one then.

Current theme is Blue
