Hi cab, and once again welcome. You have a crooked spire I keep meaning to photograph and never have the time! Last time I passed it was in a sunset but I was in a rush to get somewhere so I just admired it as I passed by. Don't worry about Canons several here use them and any other make too. What counts is photography. Fire away with any questions, you are sure of a response, and don't hold back if you think it's basic, they can be the most important. I have a D3100 myself, what lens do you have on it?

thanks all, I am looking forward to many hours of entertainment, learning to use it. It came with a 18-55 lens and taking it out of the box was shocked to see very little markings on the lens!! My first thought was, HOW DO I WORKOUT HYPERFOCAL DISTANCE? lucky for me I picked up a July edition of Amateur Photographer which had a feature on it. I have bought a 55-200 zoom off Ebay, just waiting for it to arrive. have had a helping hand already reading about VR and filters all very helpful advice, thanks again
