Announcement information here. http://nikonrumors.com/2013/10/08/nikon-d610-officially-announced.aspx/ Nikon D610 first review at DPReview http://www.dpreview.com/news/2013/10/08/nikon-launches-d610-full-frame-dslr-with-updated-shutter-mechanism?utm_campaign=internal-link&utm_source=news-list&utm_medium=text&ref=title_0_1 I dont see anything special here that the D600 hasnt got that couldnt be achieved with a firmware upgrade. I think this is a marketing exercise to hide the initial D600 shutter oil on sensor problem.

I havn't had any problems with my sensor in almost 3000 exposures, haven't ever used the cleaning utility. Feel sorry for those that have had proplems. A firmware update would be appreciated to correct other things that are anoying as we have discused on other posts but to releaseanother model without adressing these issues is rather lame on Nikons part. ![]()

Well I did a shoot at a play last night, using flash with the D600 for the audience arrivals and during the play. It all worked very nicely. The camera seems to have good sharpness in the RAW files (I dont need to sharpen as much as with D700/D3/D3S).

On the D600 the biggest annoyance for me is that when I push the OK button (in Playback mode) then I get the DLighting rather than an image image magnification. I cant see a way to change this.

re: almost up to the price Graham, Are you considering the usual price-decreases after introduction and first deliveries? Some retailers will only advertise the suggested retail price until deliveries have started. Regards, Gilbert

Mine is the same, it wants you to retouch your pix. I have never done this in camera as the originals are overwritten. Don't know if it overwrites the Raw files as well. If you want magnification yse the + button, a few buttons below the menu button. This can also be used in live view to check manual focus, but is not a digital zoom feature, thankfully;~)

Nikon doesn't consider the D600 a Pro camera and so has held back on pro features, like only 3 frame bracketing etc. On the other hand they haven't given it all the goodies of many lower priced consumer like GPS and WiFi.
