Well after a good few years with Olympus , I got the urge to play with Nikon again .. been a busy couple of months started off with a used D300s and a 70-300 .. from Wex to see if I still liked it .. quickly changed that for a used D7500 that turned out to be faulty so sent back same day .. then there customer services found me a good condition D500 which I have now and really like .. I also bought a 300mm pf lens which was nice coupled with t.c’s but I didn’t like the artefacts it produced over water , so while on holiday in Devon a couple of weeks ago I PX it for a Tamron 150-600g2 which is giving me acceptable results .. I still have my Olympus gear which does the same job but differently. So that’s it back in the fold good to see familiar names still around but

Good to see you back I still think D500 was best ever Nikon camera apart from the D850

Welcome back. Hope that all is good with you and health is improved. D500 is excellent for birding! I still have mine with Nikon 200-500.

Thanks guys , really enjoying the D500 not entirely sure with the lens as I’ve had to do a micro adjust to get it right and the camera was also under exposing so increased the optimum exposure levels . The combo is now giving acceptable results so I guess that’s why the adjustments are there . Health wise I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at Xmas but a drastic change in diet and lifestyle has resulted in a 4stone weight loss and a bit more energy , will post some pics later

I always felt the pf lens produced ‘fractal’ harsh bokeh and was one of the reasons I turned away from Nikon to Sony. That said, I have never felt that Sony have got it right with regard to sensor noise. Far too much colour noise in raw files. I look back at some of my Nikon images and they seem much smoother and ‘calmer’ in a strange sort of way. Sigh. I am now flirting with Fuji (again). They really seem to get the exposure right. I rarely need do anything with Photoshop.
