However I am sure it has an element of truth in it. Bring a whole new concept to the phrase dragon breath!!

I knew about this but life is full of little risks. We have to soldier on regardless. None of my lenses have melted yet, although I don't tend to breath on the lens, jut use some tissue which is doubtless full of clay particles and sharp chips of wood which will micro scratch the coating too.

Would have thought there was more nasties in the raindrops that hit my lens more frequently than breath. Anyway we could all have a swig of Gavescon before breathing on it. Frankly, I get more and more peed off with latest development that are not sufficiently robust. It's not progress when you improve something at the expense of another. IMHO.

After reading the procedure, I was suddenly taken back 40 years. With the exception of the no breathing on the lens, it's exactly the procedure used 40 years ago. I thought oral hygiene had gotten better since then? All these new products to clean lenses and I am told don't change a thing except don't breath on the lens. Now let me think how many times I have stuck my glasses into my mouth to get some moisture on them. Damn glasses should have disintegrated by now.  By the Way Ed, I am not a cat person, but that is a very good looking animal.

How come I can't find the underlined sentence in the Nikon page after the link?? Also, isn't saliva alkali?? If the breath is acidic due to the carbon dioxide dissolved, if any, I may just lick the lens element to neutralize it.

JK, Continuing on your april-fools hint: Anything a human being may excrete (by any means) may be harmful to somebody or something else (grin). On the other hand: missing a good picture opportunity by not cleaning a lens may do more harm to your ego. Regards, Gilbert
