Well I was doing a product shoot yesterday in my studio and there was a booom! and a plume of smoke so I am now short of one of my three Bowens Quad2000 studio flash packs.  I cant really complain as I have had them for over 20 years and they have served me well.  That said I am still sorry to see it dead.

I need to decide if I reinvest or just live with a smaller style mains head or even a powerful portable flash unit e.g. Elinchrom Ranger or just live with using a SB800 instead.

Did you take it apart to determine the extent of the damage? It may be repairable.

Not yet. Since I have two other units I can limp along on two OK especially as I have a splitter unit that allows the attachment of two heads to one unit.

I will keep the unit for spares!!

They come up on eBay from time to time.

Yuck

Don't use them as much as I used to, but can't see how I could get by without a studio set up for the times nothing else really gives you the punch you need...

Good news is they get better and cheaper all the time... Not great solace, but some :-)

No problem.
I can get a new set of units for a small price. The old units have had a lot of use so they dont owe me anything!
