| Nearly 900years ago Stephen was ‘waltzing’ Matilda, through The Anarchy, the prize being the English Crown. So named because of the lawlessness that spread through the country as the two contenders ( and supporters) slogged it out oblivious to what was going on behind their respective backs. For example, many upper crust landowners built their own private castles (like this) ad nauseum ….without permission from the monarch.  Rather opportune as we enter 2024, an election year in the UK ….and more political waltzing is on the cards.  Click here to comment on this image.

| Daniel’s Mill is the oldest working waterwheel driven corn mill in the UK (maybe further?)….so I am told. Built in the 18th century, its remained in the same family for over 250 years….located in Shropshire.  Click here to comment on this image.

| Back in 2018 my wife and I had cause to visit Angers, France (for any America guests). The wife had ‘disxovered’ on line a shop that sold statues…and one had taken her eye. After visiting the castle, the Apocalypse Tapestry ( amazing) visited the shop and purchased the said statue (leaving it for later collection rather than cart it around the city) we ventured to the gallery of David d’Angers…to view not buy, as you will realise from the following… Set in an old small church which had it roof replaced with a modern steel and glass, David’s fantastic work was beautifully bathed in sunlight with the juxtaposition of the old and modern. But the funniest part of the whole visit was the ‘site security’. As we walked around the gallery we were somewhat singled out by a young man who steadfastly followed us obviously viewing us ‘English’ with suspicion. I mean, as if we were about to steal a 4ton statue? But he insisted on popping up in shot and I had to use Jan as a decoy to lure him around a corner in a suspicion manner such that he had to follow her in preference to me ….while I grabbed some shots without him in the frame. Well I couldn’t resist it anymore and when he positioned himself amongst the head sculptures I couldn't not immortalise him (note the sideways surveillance) …..  Click here to comment on this image.

| If you ever visit Angers, do take a look at David d’Angers gallery. The detail in his work is astounding. And if you do, let me know if the young man has now finished his day release and moved on to a full time employment with the French Secret Service.

Not sure who suggested it but whoever it was here is the alternative cropped HEAD boy.  Click here to comment on this image. Footnote: I had to go back to Affinity to do this edit……blimey after working again for only a couple of weeks with Photoshop I actually struggled remembering how to do things in Affinity. The tools are nowhere near as intuitive as in PS. Then again I worked with PS for 25years and Affinity casually for only 4 or 5. So I guess it’s somewhat ingrained.

| It's been raining here for several days and the garden is once again flooded....no chance of getting out there to do some Spring cleanups. The birds are taking their baths...on the lawn! its been on and off like this for many days this winter. If this is a sign of the forecasted 'Warm Wet Winters' that global warming is going to be sending us in future, we need to rethink the garden. So with nothing possible outdoors I carried on my grand archive clear out...with some photoshop refamiliarisation too. Even got time to 'do' a jigsaw ......  Click here to comment on this image.
