Well the reason I have Lr3 installed is that it's Michaels own licenced copy but I guess it could be installed on his own comp now.

The video issue seems related to heat, it may be that the inside is affected by dust. I have been doing re-construction work in my bedroom and everything is rather dusty.

I am now running a temperature monitor to see what's happening in there while I do some more face recognition.

This is actually the first CC version they have done for Lightroom, the others were discrete version of 5. Now you have installed CC the update process should run the same as for Photoshop.

Have you noted any major differences other than the face recognition and other stuff mentioned in the marketing blur.

For me it seems to run cleaner (faster) than the 5.x version.

Thanks Rich, makes sense.

Possibly but I am so hooked up on the face recognition that I haven't had chance to notice. My Mac mini seems to be running at it's limits with the face recognition.

Once I really get on top of it I want to see if I can train it to recognise flowers, By going to an image and selecting an object you can name the object, I want to see if I can train it to recognise flowers. THAT would be really useful. If that's possible then why not makes and models of cars or other objects?

I don't think the software is concerned what the object is, only the geometric proportions.

Robert, that is a different algorithm but you might be able to get it to do it.

I think this will be a very useful future technology as many people use this for collecting and documenting collections.

Robert-

I doubt very much that the problem is from having the older versions installed. The only reason to uninstall them is "neatness" and storage space...

LR6 did require a conversion of the catalog to a new format but it nicely leaves the older catalog unchanged (for use with older versions). It took some time to convert but as I recall it finished in a couple of hours (160k images).

I generally leave the old version on my mac for about a month...just in case there is some meltdown in the new product and I need the old one to work, then I delete the old one (and in this case the old catalog).

LR6 seems to run faster and has been flawless for me...so far I haven't bothered with the face recognition and I'm quite happy with Photomatrix for HDR but should probably try LR HDR at some point.

Happy Daze...

Tom

They have added graphics card support - previously the CPU was doing all the heavy lifting. As long as it is switched on preferences the adjustment brush and local corrections do seem smoother and quicker, but I have only had a quick play - not really edited anything serious yet.

The new Panoramic merge module in Lightroom is really good - better than photoshop.
