| A while back I noticed a photo of a Begonia in a thread with a stick which slightly spoilt the presentation of the flower. Being a fussy old XYZ, I felt I had to do something about it. I lifted it off the forum and started Photoshop, reached for my Wacom tablet and discovered that upgrading the MacPro (5.1) to Mojave had stopped my tablet from working. After a brief panic I got on with other stuff. This morning I was determined to get the MacPro back working fully so I eventually discovered how to set the security preferences to allow the Wacom tablet to interact with Ps and any other software with which it can be used. I then set about this little task of removing the stick which was imposing itself on the lovely Begonia. Mainly to ensure my 'repairs' to the preferences had stuck. Sorry, I can't remember who the original poster was. This is the original, a jpeg.  This is my edit, showing that my Wacom tablet is once again fully functional.

| Not bad ... just use the blur tool to soften the shadow edge and the ripples in the white beyond it.

| That's excellent Eric, thanks for the tip. It was tricky because there wasn't much of the near maroon red to draw on for a source. I am very relieved about the fix because I'm not sure I can revert the MacPro back to High Sierra from Mojave, I know changes were made to the firmware, those changes may prevent a back-grade to the previous OS, I admit I haven't investigated but that's my impression. Having the Wacom Intuos 4 tablet is far more important to me than having Mojave over High Sierra, I just wanted to keep my OS up to date, there are occasions that's not a good policy. I am very relieved that the tablet is working again. It was simply a case of carefully following a procedure provided by Wacom. I had struggled to find the info on the Wacom website, it's well hidden, I was following the links and going in circles. Anyone struggling to get their Wacom tablet to work needs to visit 'Security and Privacy' in the Apple system preferences under the Privacy tab, -> Accessibility, then open the lock, and tick all of the Wacom items, save the changes and close the lock, back out, then re-start the computer. That should fix the issues, initially I had failed to save the changes and close the lock.

| I think very viewers would be bothered by the stick, of the remaining viewers very few would notice the slight imperfection of the shadow, nor even care! LOL But for those who do care, it's worth getting it as good as possible. I don't think many people LOOK at the detail, but they do see it, the detail is very important, as are the finishing touches, like your borders and captions which you use to such good effect. They add to the image by focusing the eye on the picture and separating it from it's surroundings. I was looking at some local artist photographs of Morecambe Bay yesterday, very expensive, the titles left me underwhelmed... "Streak of Light" and "Curved" ??? A reflection on a channel and a curved channel. Something more imaginative might have helped the prospective purchaser open their wallet or purse.

LOLWhen it boils down to it, you are only pleasing yourself Robert. Graham was chastising me for not removing the stick from this tits head and cloning out the oof branch and not selecting a faster shutter speed than 1/80th. (Which I hadn't checked prior to shooting  ) But... what does he know?

| Well, I have reverted to High Sierra OS on my workhorse MacPro 5.1, for some inexplicable reason it had started crashing while using 'Sound Studio', editing music extracted from a reel to reel tape recorder, has NEVER crashed before in all the time I have had it. I was dubious about taking it up to Mojave, I had upgraded the video card in order to squeeze a little more performance out of the old girl but I think, given Mojave OS would have been the end of the line, yet only a stepping stone to the Catalina OS I felt it was not a good move. There are so many restrictions and security safeguards with the latest OS, you can barely use the dammed thing. I also think it's a good thing to have a clean install occasionally, I just have to download a ton of fresh software now. I may set all my other Macs on High Sierra too, if only to keep the user interface consistent. The biggest issue I can see is Apple constantly chivvying me to upgrade to Mojave and Catalina, I wish there was a way of stopping that.

| Thanks JK, that's handy, I wondered if you might have sussed it... I will study the options more closely tomorrow, my head is spinning right now. I just deleted the recording of one of the tapes by accident... Doh! For some reason now I have back-graded to High Sierra the Time Machine backups won't allow me to access this mornings backups prior to switching from Mojave to High Sierra, there should be a good record on the TM backup. Maybe it would be easier to slip the Mojave disk back in than re-recording the tape... Too tired to think now.
