I have two MacPros one in UK, one in Spain. I am currently in UK and in an idle moment I upgraded it from ElCapitan (10.11.4) to High Sierra (10.13.6). Now Photoshop CS6 fails to load properly. Well it runs and loads but appears as a shadowed application. I can get the menus to drop but I get no action at all. I do not get the application frame. Maybe I should have incremented the OS upgrade to Sierra and then High Sierra but too late now. I know Photoshop CS6 works on High Sierra as this is what I have on my Macbook Air and it runs flawlessly. I have done a trial load of Photoshop 2018 CC (lastest version as a trial). It too works perfectly. Before anyone says .... Buy a CC subscription, the answer is NO, NEVER! I would rather waste my machine than give Adobe another cent. I know that Adobe Photoshop CS5.5 runs as well as I have tested that. I have reloaded Adobe Photoshop from my CS6 Design Standard disk. I have reinstalled all the Apple and Oracle Java patches. Still no joy. I had a call to Adobe Tech Support but they couldnt solve it and they escalated it to second level Technical Support. I await their call which should have been today but will be tomorrow now! I have been through all the Adobe KB entries that I can find but no joy there. I can see similar reports but some people tried various spurious stuff and then it worked but there was no consistent fix solution so I am left with using my Photoshop 2018 CC Trial until I get a fix or it expires. Does anyone know of a fix for this problem?

Have you tried a clean, fresh install of OS then CS6 on a completely clean disk? Make it the only drive in the MacPro to start with, just so it can't pick up any distracting files from elsewhere. That would be my starting point in this case. ... Another approach might be to try clone your MBP drive to a spare drive for the MP then run off that?

I did the upgrade via the link (DOSDUDE1) that I sent to you. It allows my 3,1 MacPro to install Sierra, High Sierra or Mojave. I can try it but I will need a spare disk. I think the MBA disk clone would be an easier option.

I think that might do it, you could try by launching the MBA in 'Target drive' mode, Hold down the "T" key while booting the MBA and hook the two together with a firewire lead. If you select the MBA as start up drive that might do the trick. That said, the DOS Dude hack might be needed and I don't know how that would fit in. You could always go subscription mode with the Adobe software... Or get a 4.1 or 5.1? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Maybe not... ![]()

I just purchased and received a new Macbook Pro laptop with OSX Mojave and it has Adobe Photoshop Extended CS6 preinstalled, so I know I can reinstall my Adobe Design Standard CS6 on this new machine.

That's good. I suspect the root of your problems is the MacPro 3.1. There may be workarounds but as with most workarounds there are snags. MP 5.1's with lowish spec, or bare bones are pretty cheap nowadays. It may help preserve your hair to invest in a MP5.1. The 3.1 will still have some residual value as a server, so long as it doesn't have to run recent OS or application software. With 1Gb dual ethernet, 6 drive bays and 3 spare PCIe slots, it would make respectable server.

I have spent half the day configuring my very nice new Mojave driven Macbook Pro 2.9GHz, 16GB RAM, 480GB SSD and 2TB HDD. I am ready to go now just got some final tweaks and I am fit to work on the move! I need to wait for Phase One to get Capture One Pro v11.3 updated so it supports Nikon Z7 and I am good.

Have you tried Nikon's Capture NX-D recently? It's much better and they have reintroduced the picture points adjustments, they work well and even on my somewhat old MacPro it's acceptable. Big Z files might tax it a bit but probably no more than any other computer.

Good, that will allow you to process the Z NEF's correctly, as Nikon intended. You can even see to actual, moment of exposure focus points. I meant control points!
